I rebuilt Menlo School’s Robotics program after it shut down during quarantine by coordinating with the administration to secure a coach, faculty advisor, and funding. I spoke at assemblies and wrote school-wide emails to recruit members, and went from the only team of 5 inexperienced students and coming in last place at a local competition to overseeing and mentoring three competitive teams with 10 students each. Led weekly check-in meetings for rookie teams to ensure they had what they needed and attended rookie teams’ competitions for support and guidance.
I was selected by other team members to be the A-team’s Captain (10-12), leading and organizing meetings 6x a week, delegated building tasks, and managed team progress in the engineering notebook. Represented the team at competitions and led interviews during judging, qualifying for states in February 2023 (placed 34/70), 2024 (placed 17/70), and 2025 (placed 20/70). I led our team to winning both the VEX Create and VEX Design awards in 2025, the first robotics awards Menlo School had received in over a decade. In 2025, the A-team was invited to attend Mecha Mayhem in Canada, and I helped coordinate the international competition with the team members and school administration. Earned the most hours contributing to the team with 300-400 hours a year.
